Tips for a Successful School Year 2013-2014
Book Bags- Your child should bring a book bag every day. Please make sure that the book bag is large enough to fit their Daily "Bee" folder. You may want to send a change of clothes to keep here at school. Sometimes restroom accidents happen, as well as other accidents like spilled milk, mud, or paint. The cilnic often has clothes, but they will not always have your child's size.
Snack- We will have time for snack every day. It is helpful if you do NOT place your child's snack in their lunch box.(Children will sometimes eat their whole lunch for snack!) Please do not send in candy, juice boxes or soda as a snack. We can only drink water in the room.
Lunch Money- Please place all lunch money in an envelope with your child's name. MyPaymentsPlus.com can also be used to buy lunches. Milk may be purchased separate from the school lunches. The cost of a lunch is $2.00 per day. Extra milk is $0.40 . Adult lunches are $3.00.
Lunch- You are welcome to come in to eat lunch with your child any day during the week. Right now, our lunch time is scheduled from 12:50-1:15. The school does not allow fast food to be brought into the cafeteria. You are welcome to purchase a school lunch for you and any siblings that come with you. There is a special parent table where you may eat lunch with your child. If you are planning on attending lunch, please send in a note and let me know if you will be purchasing a lunch from school. When you arrive at school, you can meet us at the cafereria door.
Ice Cream- Ice cream will be available for students to purchase during lunch on Fridays. The cost of ice cream is $1.00.
Transportation Changes- In order to ensure your child's safety, we will need a hand written and signed note from you when your child's regular form of transportation will be different. Please include your child's first and last name, their regular form of transportation, and their transportation change in your note (including the address of the bus stop where they will be getting off). The office does not accept e-mail as a written note.
Illness- Please keep your child home when he or she is sick. Children will recover more quickly and not infect others. When your child returns from an absence, please send in a written excuse. If you do not send in a note, the absence will be marked as unexcused.
Conferences- There are two scheduled conferences (September and February) to discuss your child's progress. Anytime you have a question or concern, please e-mail me at [email protected], write a note, or call the school and leave a message. I will send a written responce or call you back as soon as possible.(Please note that I can not answer emails during the school day, as I am teaching the children.)
Early/Late Check Out- Arrival for school runs between 8:20 and 8:50, and for your child's benefit please have him or her to school on time if their health permits. If your child is late, you may stop by the office for a Tardy Slip. If you need to pick up your child early, please remember to check him or her out at the front office. Early check out will end at 3:00.
Birthdays- You may provide a simple snack for your child's birthday. Birthday snacks will be eaten in the lunch room during our lunch time. You may send the snack in with your child, or you may bring it to school and meet us for lunch 12:50-1:15! Please do not bring in cakes or cookie cakes unless they have been precut. Birthday invitations are to be sent from home and are not distributed in school unless the whole class is invited. This is done to prevent any hurt feelings.
Medications- No child is allowed to take medication in the classroom. All medication should be brought in and registered at our clinic by the parents. The children should never bring in medication of any type.
I look forward to a great year! If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know as soon as possible either by note, e-mail, or phone. Thank you in advance for your help and support. Together we will make this a great year for your Kindergartener!
